Yeast is a fungus and the women’s body typically has a small
amount of it in the vagina. A vaginal yeast infection occurs
when the vagina has too many yeast cells that has been
produced. This type of infection is common in women and there
are many ways to treat it. Yeast infections are not usually
dangerous to the body and are more bothersome than anything
else. .
There are some reasons why a yeast infection will develop:
taking antibiotics, high estrogen levels in the body, health
problems like HIV or diabetes. Symptoms of a yeast infection
may include itching, soreness or pain in the area, burning,

Many women who suffer from yeast infections will treat them
with antifungal cream, suppositories or tablets. There are many
other home remedies that you can try to clear it up.
1. Yogurt. Place yogurt in the vagina two times a day and
follow through one day after the symptoms have cleared up. This
can be done by putting a tampon in yogurt and then inserting
into the vagina.
2. Tea Tree Oil. Put a few drops of the oil on a tampon and
then insert the tampon in to the vagina. Once it is inserted it
should provide some relief to you.
3. Honey. This treatment may not feel very good and will be
sticky to the touch but works magically. While sitting on the
toilet, pour a half a cup on the area and stay seated for 20
minutes. Once the area is soaked, take a bath in warm water and
only pat dry the vagina. Do this both in the morning and
night.
4. Vinegar. This is to be considered antibacterial and
antifungal. Pour 1 cup of vinegar into a warm bath. Rest in the
tub for 20 minutes and only pat dry the vagina. Any vinegar is
going to be alright to use on the body, but apple cider vinegar
is known to work best.
5. Potassium sorbate. Make this solution by combining 1
teaspoon of potassium sorbate to 1 cup of water. Dip a tampon
into the solution and then insert the tampon into the vagina.
Place the tampon in before you go to bed and take it out when
you wake in the morning. Continue the tampon use every day
until the symptoms are gone.
6. Cranberries. You can drink cranberries in juice or take
cranberry pills found in health food stores. Do this during the
entire time you have symptoms of the infection.
7. Hydrogen peroxide. Mix 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide with
1 cup of water. Use this solution as a douche and use to clean
vaginal area. Treat with this solution until the symptoms are
gone and one day after.
If you have ever had a yeast infection before, you normally can
feel when another one is starting to flare up. You can treat it
yourself at home with over-the counter medicines just as long
as you are not pregnant. Sometimes if your symptoms are not too
severe, you can leave it untreated and both the symptoms and
the infection will clear up on its own.
